June Book Club

I’ve been putting my reading list in my newsletter lately, but feel I should give more background on each book that I’m reading.

So, from now on, my newsletter will highlight what I’m reading, and you can come to the blog to find out more. June’s list is below!

Current Reads

In the Blood – Jack Carr

Fifth in the series, this title sees the protagonist James Reece finally tracking down the man who killed his best friend, while being hunted himself. To add more to his plate, he’s being hunted because he potentially has access to a secret left behind by his father that nobody wants him to find out.

I actually just finished In the Blood, and wow, Jack Carr does it again. Great book, fancy twist at the end, and a cliffhanger of an ending. I mean, a real cliffhanger! Left me with more questions than before!

Plus, you can find a special edition out in the wild that Jack shot a bullet through the front page. I got one for myself…

Dark Angel

Course of Action – David Darling

The third offering in the Noah Hunter series sees the infamous detective tracking down a bigger threat than ever before. Reopening a cold case from over 18 years prior, Noah believes the victim in question might still be alive.

David is a self-published author investing 100% into himself, and it shows. He has grown with each book and Noah Hunter is a protagonist I’ve grown to really love. Go pick this one up, and the rest of the series! And don’t forget his novella, Grim Measures, as well! It was incredible!

Terminal Objective

Shadow Tier – Steve Stratton

The debut thriller by Steve Stratton sees main character Lance Bear Wolf tracking down those who had killed his family. Building a team of like-minded operators like him, codename Shadow Tier, Wolf vows revenge.

Steve crushes it with this debut offering and I had the pleasure of reading an advanced copy at the beginning of May. The official release is 14 June, so you still have time to order your copy!

Plus, Steve will be on my podcast, Course of Action, on 13 June (Listen here)

Shadow Tier
Cold Fear

Cold Fear – Brandon Webb/John David Mann

The follow up to their first thriller, Steel Fear, which saw their main character, Navy Seal Finn in the middle of a murder mystery onboard an aircraft carrier. Steel Fear was amazing and kept me turning the pages. It was a murder/mystery with a military twist, unlike anything I’ve read before. Can’t wait to see what Cold Fear has in store!

Unexpected Spy

The Unexpected Spy – Tracy Walder

In doing research for my debut novel and developing my protagonist Abigail Stevens, I’ve been doing a lot of research on the CIA and other spy organizations. I specifically have looked for unique individuals to mold main, and secondary characters. This book jumped out at me immediately.

Tracy Walder went from her college sorority straight into the CIA hunting down weapons and terrorists in an almost movie-like fashion, and then later joined the FBI in a counter-intel capacity and took down one of the most notorious foreign spies ever caught on American soil.

I can’t wait to dig into this one!

Rising Tiger

Rising Tiger – Brad Thor

Brad Thor was one of the authors that got me into writing my own thrillers, finally investing the time to do something creative once again. He, Mike Maden, and Jack Carr all influenced/motivated me in many ways.

This title, Brad’s 21st book in the Scot Harvath series sees Scot tracking down the country’s biggest threat and a potential nation-ending antagonist. Nobody writes a thriller like Brad Thor. His books are on my shopping list every single year.

If you can’t wait, check out the other 20 titles from Brad. I highly recommend Near Dark and Full Black.

Tom Clancy’s Zero Hour – Don Bentley

Don has taken the mantle as another author in the Clancy camp, continuing the legacy of the legendary author and telling the Jack Ryan, and Jack Ryan Jr. stories. And I tell you what…Don has crushed it.

Zero Hour is Don’s second offering for the Clancy empire, and if it’s anything like the first, I’ll be through nearly 500 pages in a matter of a few days.

In Zero Hour, Jack Ryan Jr. is the man who can stop a second Korean war from breaking out. When the North Korean leader is catastrophically injured, Jack Jr. must fight a group of sleeper agents who suddenly appear to be fighting for the leader’s succession.
