April Book Club

It’s been a while since I did a  book club, so here is what I’m reading in April!

Dark Angel – Andrews & Wilson

The follow-up to their first in the Shepherds Series, Dark Intercept, sees the team of Andrews & Wilson pick up the story again for another round.

From Amazon:

Former Navy SEAL Jedidiah Johnson returns to Nashville ready to begin his training with the elite warriors known as the Shepherds. He thinks he knows what to expect when he arrives on the sprawling, state-of-the-art facility but quickly realizes he’ll have to find his place as the rookie leader of a new team. Then he starts having visions of an imminent attack overseas, and with the clock ticking, Jed and his team are dispatched to neutralize the threat. All the while, Jed hears whispers of another threat . . . a name that raises unexplained fear and anger throughout the Shepherds organization.

As Woland and the Shepherds race toward a collision, Jed must rely on his gifts, his training, and his untested team to make critical decisions on a global stage—never realizing that a secret servant of the enemy is growing closer and closer to him.

Dark Angel

Terminal Objective – Jason Kasper

I’ve read one of Kaspers’ books before and enjoyed it. This is the David Rivers series that he’s very popular for. Here I’m going for round two!

From Amazon:

A war has been raging.
Russia is the final battleground.
David Rivers will be the first in.

From the city streets of the US to the war-torn deserts of Africa. From the snow-capped mountains of Asia to the narco-controlled jungles of South America, forces have been fighting for control of the ultimate criminal empire.

When an act of violence plunges the contenders into a final confrontation, David Rivers is sent in. He’s the first operative of a mercenary army.

Parachuting into Russia to link up with a mysterious intelligence agent, he must find a way to strike the heart of a ruthless criminal alliance.

The stakes couldn’t be higher. If David doesn’t succeed, he won’t just lose his life—he’ll lose everyone he cares about, too.

Because when this war is over, either one organization will stand…or none of them will.

Terminal Objective

Spies, Lies, and Algorithms – Amy B. Zegart

First, this cover is amazing. Caught my eye immediately. Then when I started researching I saw that Amy (the author) is no joke. She’s an award winning writer and researcher specializing in intelligence. I think I’m really going to like it!

From Amazon:

A riveting account of espionage for the digital age, from one of America’s leading intelligence experts

Spying has never been more ubiquitous—or less understood. The world is drowning in spy movies, TV shows, and novels, but universities offer more courses on rock and roll than on the CIA and there are more congressional experts on powdered milk than espionage. This crisis in intelligence education is distorting public opinion, fueling conspiracy theories, and hurting intelligence policy. In Spies, Lies, and Algorithms, Amy Zegart separates fact from fiction as she offers an engaging and enlightening account of the past, present, and future of American espionage as it faces a revolution driven by digital technology.

Terminal Objective

This month I’ll also be reading a few drafts from some other authors, as well as my own book, Hear These Truths, that is releasing at the end of the month. Pre-sales will be starting soon, so stay tuned and sucsbribe below!
