5 Books for 2022 (Fiction Edition)

Every year I try and read at least a book a month. I 2021 my goal was 20 total books read. In 2022, i’m shooting for 25. Below are just some of the books I’m recommending in 2022, in no particular order.

How many books are you going to read in 2022?

Jack Carr

#1  – In the Blood by Jack Carr

We are finally going to get to see James Reece take on the sniper role that we all wanted him to, and hoped Jack Carr would incorporate. With Jack being a former Navy Seal Sniper fans hoped one day Jack incorporate it into the James Reece character, using his real-world experience in the Terminal List storyline.

In May 2022, we are getting that wish granted!

Also, The Terminal List series on Amazon is rumored to come out around that time, as Jack pushed back the release of In the Blood from April to May…fingers crossed!

#2 – The Body Man by Eric Bishop

Not only am I privileged to know Eric, but I was honored to read an early copy of The Body Man before everyone else got their hands on it. And wow, am I glad I did!

Eric spins a simple concept of the president having a right-hand man to do his handy work into a story of true crime, espionage, and mystery. The characters are relatable, fun, and down-to-earth. The story moves fast, keeps the pace, and has a great twist. For a debut novel, this is on point.

At first, the concept of the body man feels like it could only fit into one book and not a series, but Eric weaves plenty of details and questions into the story that immediately expands the universe, letting you know firmly that this is only just the beginning (Thankfully!)

Highly recommend it, it’s Five-Stars for me.

#3 – The Night Shift by Alex Finlay

His first book, Every Last Fear, was a great story of setup, mystery, and revenge from multiple points of view. Normally, multiple points of view are hard to pull off and difficult for the reader. Not in this case. Alex did it very well and I really enjoyed it.

So, his next book is The Night Shift, which is not a sequel but another offering that looks to be just as good. With a release in Feb/March, I hope that this one is just as good as his first! Check them both out below.

#4 – Untitled Jack Ryan Jr. by Don Bentley

Rumored to be called Zero Hour, with only Amazon having it titled as such, it’s expected in June.

Don did such a good job with his first outing under the Tom Clancy umbrella that they gave him not just one, but two follow-up books! Target Acquired was great, and Don obviously deserves additional chances to expand the Jack Ryan Jr. storyline. If it’s anything like Don’s previous Clancy offering or his own novels, count me in!

#5 – Rising Tiger by Brad Thor

The king of the military/political thriller genre is back, this time delivering us a heart-beating ride through what looks like the Asian part of the world. His website says his lead character of Scot Harvath will be thrust into a completely unfamiliar culture with nobody to trust, on a mission that is doomed from the beginning. We are used to seeing Harvath in the US or UK/EU part of the world, so a new mission to an unknown location will be refreshing.

I personally was wondering when Brad was going to take it there, with his ability to almost predict the next world conflict blowing my mind. Really looking forward to what he cooks up in this 21st offering!
